Additional control functions

NOTICE

Additional control functions are not available for all applications! See table in section “Pre-defined applications in the settings assistant”.

These additional control functions are available depending on the application:

  • Setback operation
  • No-Flow Stop
  • Q-LimitMax
  • Q-LimitMin

Setback operation

If the fluid temperature drops, the pump calculates the setback operation of the heat generator. It reduces the speed and thus the pump output to a minimum.
In factory setting this function has been deactivated and must be activated if applicable.

CAUTION

Material damage caused by frost!

The setback operation may be activated only if hydronic balancing of the system has been completed! In case of non-compliance, inadequately supplied system parts may freeze due to frost!

  • Carry out hydronic balancing!

NOTICE

The additional control function “Setback operation” cannot be combined with the additional control function “No-Flow Stop”!

No-Flow Stop

The additional “No-Flow Stop” control function continuously monitors the actual volume flow of the heating/cooling system.
If the volume flow drops below the configured reference volume flow Qref, the pump stops. The pump checks every 5 minutes whether the volume flow requirement increases again. If necessary, the pump returns to the previously set control function.
The reference volume flow Qref can be set between 1 % and 20 % of the maximum volume flow Qmax depending on the pump size.
In factory setting this function has been deactivated and must be activated if applicable.

NOTICE

The additional “No-Flow Stop” control function is available for suitable applications only! (See section “Pre-defined applications in the settings assistant”)
The additional “No-Flow Stop” control function is incompatible with the additional “Setback operation” and “Q-Limitmin” control functions!

Q-LimitMax

The additional control function “Q-LimitMax” can be combined with other control functions (differential pressure control (∆p-v, ∆p-c), cumulated volume flow, temperature control (∆T control, T control)). It makes it possible to limit the maximum volume flow to a set value 10 – 90 % of QMax. When the set value is reached, the pump is controlled on the characteristic curve along the limit – never beyond.

NOTICE

When using Q-LimitMax in non-hydraulically balanced systems, some areas can be inadequately supplied.

CAUTION

Material damage caused by frost!

When using Q-LimitMax in non-hydraulically balanced systems, some areas can be inadequately supplied and freeze!

  • Carry out hydronic balancing!

Q-LimitMin

The additional control function “Q-LimitMin” can be combined with other control functions (differential pressure control (∆p-v, ∆p-c), cumulated volume flow, temperature control (∆T control, T control)). It makes it possible to ensure the minimum volume flow to a set value 10 % – 90 % of QMax within the hydraulic characteristic curve. When the set value is reached, the pump is controlled on the characteristic curve along the limit until the maximum delivery head is reached.

NOTICE

The additional control function “Q-LimitMin” cannot be combined with the additional control function “Setback operation” and “No-Flow Stop”!
